Preventive Dentistry

Fortunate are the sick, who receive treatment to regain their health.
Even more fortunate are the healthy, who receive treatment to remain healthy.
Hippocrates ( 460 – 377 v. Chr. )

Our comprehensive range of treatments spans all disciplines in the field of dentistry. With your involvement and commitment to good oral hygiene, we will do our best to ensure that your teeth last as long as possible. We believe that the best approach is to check that your teeth are healthy from a functional and medical perspective, and on this foundation we can address your esthetic needs. Our philosophy is based on this principle: to progress from repair to prevention.

Saliva Diagnosis

We can measure the number of pathogens in your saliva to determine your risk of developing problems such as caries or periodontal disease. Then we can and take action with appropriate preventive measures.

Appointment Reminder System

At our practice we have established a Reminder-System. If you wish, we will call you at an appropriate time to remind you of your appointments. Let us know if you would like to be part of the Reminder-System.

A regular dental examination includes checking the teeth for caries, an examination of the gums and root support system, and a saliva diagnosis. All these measures enable early discovery and treatment of any problems.

Sealing Fissures

Side teeth have funnel like hollows called fissures on the gum surface that can harbor small bacterial deposits. After a systematic diagnostic examination they can be sealed with a special material, significantly reducing the likelihood of the development of caries.

Professional Cleaning

In our philosophy a professional cleaning is a vital part of preventive dental medicine. Problems can be identified and their development prevented. The presence of plaque and tartar, if not removed, provides a breeding ground for bacteria that can cause periodontal disease. Clean teeth – free of plaque and tartar residue – do not harbor bacteria. In a professional cleaning we use a powder emitter that sends high-pressurized water and bicarbonate through a tube that penetrates and cleans every crevice. The procedure is the most effective technique for cleaning teeth. Regular professional cleaning significantly reduces the risk of caries and periodontal disease.

Subgingival Concrement Removal

Concrement is hardened plaque residue, which forms on the surface of the root beneath the gums. Removal of this residue is a prophylactic measure. If not removed, the residue can trigger periodontal disease in the root support system. The preliminary stages of the disease can, in most cases, be treated by removing concrement without further intervention. An ultrasonic descaler with exceptionally fine filigree cleaning point cleans around the root contour and penetrates into the gum socket gently removing the bacterial deposits.

At our practice we specialize in ultrasound technology using instruments that can penetrate several millimeters under the gum tissue to gently clean and polish the surface of the root.

After treatment the gum tissue can heal and regenerate. When any swelling has subsided, we will reevaluate the condition of the root and bone to determine if further intervention is required. In our experience, after a subgingival cleaning procedure, further surgical intervention is usually not required, or only in a significantly reduced area.

Laser Gum Therapy

The gentlest treatment for inflamed gums is laser treatment. The laser is not a “cure all” but it can “destroy” harmful bacteria. Relatively deep gum tissue bone pockets can be targeted and painlessly treated.

General Medical Examination

In close collaboration with our medical practitioner, Dr Lipinski, we identify relevant factors in the blood that are known to be closely linked to specific illnesses in the mouth, jaw area, and general illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes.

Microbiological Examination

The bacteria present in the mouth are responsible for the condition of the mouth flora and the gums. An examination of the bacteria can help us decide the type and degree of treatment that will work best for each patient. Working from our in house laboratory we can recommend a treatment plan that is developed for your individual needs.
